So I don't know if it's going to actually truly look black when it dries, or if the wussy "washes out in 6-12 shampoos" formula I used failed to take, or what.

It does look less red.

See, I had to get two inches cut off it last week because the ends were all dead and frizzled. This made my hair Exactly The Wrong Length. Stubby pony tail, and while it can be coiled into a bun, it's now springy enough that it throws off the damned hairpin. It just brushes my shoulders, and it has a lot of sideways.

So I figured a different hair color would distract me from how much of an unruly mop it was. And I decided that since I'd never been brave enough to do black hair before, that now was probably the time.

I wasn't completely brave, so I went for the formula that claims to wash out.

Well, if I hate it, at least I have a new Happy Bunny bandana that says "butts cheerfully kicked."

I need a haircut.
It would give me a boost.

Me too. But I don't want to pay for it, 'cause I'm cheap. And really, who wants to pay to simply have their very straight hair cut in a straight line?

Happy Bunny came from Hot Topic. The mean skulls were a dollar store find, and I bought out every one in their stock to send to my friendslist. I'm hoping they get more because mean skulls are so very comforting.

Black almost always takes. It also almost never washes out. Feel free to kick me if you turn out to be an exception, though.

Maybe I put it on wrong or something, 'cause I'm back to very close to my natural drab dark brown now. A little darker at the roots, but a fair amount of the red's not entirely masked on the ends.

I'm going to leave it for a couple of weeks and then see if I want to put more black on top of it.

What type of dye did you use? I think certain blacks don't really do much on hair that's already dark -- remember when I tried to black-henna my hair? I think it darkened the ends (which were lighter to begin with) and just made the rest of my hair very shiny.

*shhh* -- Loving care, actually. I said it was wussy.

Maybe the "blue black" 6-12 shampoos formula that was at Hot Topic would do better.

If I'm brave enough.

Am I that brave?
