Okay. So I bought my lovely, spiffy Double-H "jump boots," with the police/fire/EMS sole and the zipper down the side and the buckle across the ankle, and they are a joy to behold.

They are not yet a joy to wear.

The right boot is not bad. Kinda stiff, but getting more flex each time I wear it, and not causing me any discomfort.

The left boot is nearly impossible. It doesn't seem to have ANY flex in it across the instep. I can't walk normally with it on. It kinda hurts. Taking it off just now REALLY hurt.

How the hell do I break these things in so that they conform to my FEET and not the other way around?

[livejournal.com profile] juseppi, I'll ask you in person tonight, but anyone else with words of advice would also be welcome.

You wear them at night, when you're off your feet, just sitting about the house before heading to bed. I find that if I train my new shoes and/or boots about the house for about a week before I try to actually wear them anywhere, I get much less damage to my feet when all's scored and counted.

What material are they? If they are leather.. go puddle-stomping!! :) Let them get soaking wet.. and then wear them for a little bit (not even necc walking around in them). Then, let them dry. :)

This'll really work? This is not just your way of exacting revenge on Shit Faced Girl for making a fool of herself in front of your co-workers?

1) Yes, this does really work.
2) It doesn't really matter to me that you got trashed infront of my co-workers. A lot of ppl get trashed infront of my co-workers on a daily basis.

I'm a granny boots girl myself. Generation gap, I suspect. I found wides at Clearwater Creek and am thinking about another pair...

Schweet! Don't get me started on how pissed off I am that Doc Martens discountinued their 20 eyelet vegetarian boot before I could buy it. Moo Shoes has a 14 eyelet one, but I WANTED the TWENTY hole one. *pout*

Tasty boots. Somewhere around here I've got my original Navy issue flight deck boots. Very similar. No zipper. No buckle. :( I would imagine the breaking in process is similar. The person who said to go puddle jumping is right on.

:)

I have a lovely pair of granny boots that I cherish -- pointy toes, wing tip detailing, little 1" tapered heels. Got them in 1990 and they are holding up nicely. But sometimes you just need Stompy Boots.

Maybe there's still some up on eBay?

The 8-eyelet Docs that I scored off my boss are my current standard work shoes now. Happy happy boots. Only trouble is that while my FEET fit into size 6 1/2, my special size 7 insoles do NOT.

Which is why I really need to break in the jump boots.
