The car dealership that had the reasonable Mustang doesn't seem to be open on Sundays. At least they're not answering their phone.

And I am not driving out there just to find out that either they're closed or they've already sold it.

This means I need to clean here. And sort. And pack.

I hate this so much.

Please come keep me company while I do this so I don't lose my mind.

Text me, call me, leave a comment here -- I'm checking every 15 minutes.

HALP.

You!

You're a foodie!

Do you happen to know any good Gluten-Free baking recipes or sources? This has been a seriously steep learning curve, and I don't like wasting food.

My one big suggestion is for Fearn's Brown Rice Baking Mix, available at a Wild Oats (and probably a Whole Foods) near you. I know it makes adequate muffins.

Beyond that, I suggest poking [livejournal.com profile] tikvah and [livejournal.com profile] surelle, my friends who follow a gluten-free diet. They're the ones for whom I did the bulk of my GF cooking.

I will also point out that chickpea flour, available in Indian groceries, is GF and makes a fine breading for fried things -- that's what pakora batter is made of, and pakoras are yummy.

Sweet rice flour can be used weight-for-weight for regular flour in ladyfingers, which get their structure from whipped egg whites.

Other than that... my best suggestion is to find recipes and run them by me so i can guess whether they'd be palatable.

Ooohh! Thank you! Good suggestions all, and I'm just about to head to Wild Oats. I really can't shop anywhere else now.

I know I'm going to need to invest in a deep fryer, because one of our favorite treats was to go out and get fried appetizers like cheese sticks and mushrooms.

I've ordered some GF cookbooks and got some GF baking mixes, but I want to be able to convert some of my traditional family recipes as well. I've got some guar gum, xantham gum, dough conditioner, and GF gluten replacer, so I just need to learn the science behind GF baking.

Also, must learn what pakoras are, they sound good.

Pakora is to tempura as Indian is to Japanese.

It can be. The three sauces that get put out with them at Indian restaurants are the red onion relish, the green garlic and mint yogurt sauce, and the sweet tamarind sauce.

The only pony I want is a convertible Mustang plz.

I has no room for a pony.

Plz send Dumpster.

You can rent a dumpster! At least you can around here. I don't remember what they cost, but we got one when my friends moved and they had a room that was literally filled from floor to ceiling with useless collectible junk. I mean REALLY useless, like cardboard cut-outs and stuff.

Also, if you have a lot of old legal papers and bills lying around, I'd suggest buying or borrowing a shredder. They're not too expensive anymore, we got ours for about $30.

I shall send you mustang vibes and pony cookies instead. ^_~

I have a shredder. I bought it a few weeks ago. I have four bags of shreds and I have to look up how to recycle them.

As for renting a Dumpster -- as soon as I have the money from selling the house, I will. Until then, can't afford it.

From: [identity profile] ygrane.livejournal.com
Our city takes shreds as long as they are bagged in paper bags. We just put them out with the rest of the recycling. Hope your city is easy about it too.

Good Luck!

HEH, boy, wow, did you ever friend the right LJer then -- just ask poor Riki-tiki-tavi, I yak and yak away.

d00d, you're into yoga -- you wouldn't know it from my LJ, but I LOVE yoga -- used to do that, and tai chi. I've been wanting to get back into it for forever.

Also, icon LOVE (altho I didn't LOVE the finale. But Hiro love!).

I taught Yoga for a couple of years, and I'm going to a conference at White Lotus at the end of July. ^_^

Hiro is MADE OF SQUISHINESS. [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija said she could watch a whole show of Hiro and Ando wandering around NYC, and I TOTALLY agree.

White Lotus? Niiiice -- I was into Zen a long time, too, and in fact the reincarnated!Keats guy in my b00k was raised right near Tassajara (I just posted an excerpt from it in my LJ is why I'm mentioning it). I mean, I still like yoga and Zen and a lot of Eastern stuff, I just sort of fell behind on it. Yoga was just wonderful.

No it really isn't. I can't find out if that Mustang's still available. I do sort of have an appointment to go look at a Chrysler Sebring convertible with low mileage this evening. If those don't work out I have to follow up on the Volvo wagon. And a friend has offered to sell me his Miata for $750 but I would need a backup car (like a Volvo) for that because, two-seater.

And I can't really do ANY of this until the house is sold and i have the money! Which it isn't yet! Which is driving me crazy!

I'm taking 15-minute whacks at my filing cabinet and shredder.

And mmm, bubble tea.

I could go GET some bubble tea.

I could even combine it with dropping off stuff at the Salvation Army.

There's a thought!
