Yay quickie costumes
Oct. 30th, 2004 06:40 pmThe Johnny Damon costume, which had a trial run on School Spirit Day yesterday, was less effective than hoped. Fake beards are probably not best done with a mix of cocoa powder and hair gel.
So we're back to angel-fairy. With the wings she got at the Renfaire two weeks ago.
One thing I have a lot of in my sewing stash is white fabric.
The gods were smiling on me. I found, of all things, what seemed to be a patient drape -- I do NOT know how that got into my fabric stash -- which had hemmed edges and selvages that covered both the robe hem and the sleeve edges. And it was exactly long enough, and MORE than wide enough to do batwing sleeves.
Diagonal cuts. Band of gold ribbon at the hem, another at the neck.
It's big enough to wear over full warm clothes.
And we're done.
