I have not yet set up the Excellent Vintage Hi-Fi System, but I did accomplish some stereo goodness today.

Sunday night, the boss' high-end Denon amp, into which the 5-disc changer for the store is plugged, started emitting smoke, according to Chris.

So no music for the front.

Poor Kevin was going nuts, so yesterday I moved the knockoff Discman and the amplified computer speakers that are MY kitchen CD setup out to the front for him, so there would at least be something. As today is my day off, I knew I wouldn't miss it.

But I also knew that tomorrow I'd miss it. So I dragged the spare crappy Yorx bookshelf system (turntable, 2 cassette decks, and a radio with a broken tuner) over to the store, to plug the CD changer into the aux port. It's not high-end, but it's not emitting smoke either.

Small problem. The speakers in the front of the store had bare wire on the ends of their speaker wires. The crap stereo had small RCA jacks.

Went over to Radio Shack. Explained the problem to the nice salesclerk, who located two useful cables with male RCA plugs on one end and wire on the other. That, and a roll of electrical tape: $7.

That way, the boss need not hose her cash flow on stereo repairs or replacement Right Now.

And there's music out front again.
