I want anyone and EVERYONE who reads this to post in here something they would like to do with me someday.

Then post this in your journal (or don't, if you truly detest these memes) to find out what people want to do with you.

Hmm... right now - cuddle you to bits. Lovely comment sweetie - really really nice.

In the future - buying fresh produce at a market in somewhere like florence. And then helping you cook. Your posts make me drool.

:)

Take you out to dinner somewhere that *you* think has fabulous food, ply you with rich desserts, then beg you for your recipes. ;)

If you're within a day's drive, I might take you up on that, you know.

Any particular recipes?

Eat your cooking!

Hang out with you in real life, sit in a lovely, large, perfectly appointed kitchen with a maid to clean up afterwards, and sip tea and chat while you cook.

Your posts are quite drool worthy.

Hm. I wonder if my mom's college roommate Joanie would host us. She has a walk-in fridge, and an Aga cooker, and I am dead certain she employs a maid service.

Walk around Venice before it sinks, then take the Mediterranean equivalent of a Windjammer cruise from there to Crete and stare agape at the sunset....

If you mean it, I'm SO up for the October occurrence of Bound.
From: [identity profile] eirehound.livejournal.com
Bound? Do you mean the gothoid thing that used to happen at Webster Underground? Or is that something else?

Whatever it is ... it's a date, even if I do dance kind of like Crowley.

Sit with you in your kitchen as you're cooking a meal that you really want to cook, and watch you create your magic, and learn some of your cooking tricks, and talk about life and the universe, with the others either quieter than usual or perhaps off enjoying themselves somewhere. While I love the entire extended clan, sometimes it's hard to really connect with *you* when you're presiding over multiple burners of food and corralling your oft-recalcitrant golden child and discussing life's logistics with your spice...

Me minus my attendant chaos? What a concept. I'll have to see if I could save a day for that, it sounds like fun.

I'd love a cooking lesson. Not sure how much you'd like that since you have to do it all day, though.

I am not sure I'm the world's greatest teacher. What did you want to learn to cook?

Date: 2004-09-09 03:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ygrane.livejournal.com
Oh, anything. I've been cooking since I was little, but I'm always up for something new.

Right now I'd like to learn some whole grain dishes since I need more of them in my diet. I'm especially interested in amaranth and quinoa for their high protein content. Any foods that offer a vegetarian source of the omega fatty acids group is good too.

No, I'm not strictly vegetarian, I'm just allergic to fish. But I love vegan and vegetarian foods.

Well, for vegetarian omega fatty acids, you want flax oil, which, sadly, is nasty. I know no way to improve it except to mix it half and half with tasty olive oil and a LOT of garlic and fresh herbs and make a salad dressing.

I have never cooked with amaranth. I cook quinoa by the package directions and serve it as I would rice or couscous. [livejournal.com profile] tikvah, who must not have gluten, uses it in place of bulgur in a tabouli salad.

I was going to suggest kasha varnishkes for the whole grain buckwheat groats, but then I remembered that the main reason I like kasha varnishkes is to soak up all the good cooking gravy from beef brisket. I suppose if you made it with caramelized onions it would have some of the same savory goodness without the meat.

If you weren't cooking, I'd want you to pull up a milk crate and stay STILL so I wouldn't walk into you...

but, got a bullwhip? Or a tranq-dart gun? Or both?

In fact I *do* own a whip. A friend of mine bought it for me when I received my Master's degree. (get it?)

I also have a fairly non-functional cat-o-nine tails, given to me by another friend.

Hmm. I wonder why people tend to buy me whips after they get to know me? ;)

I would like you to work with me in creating a cream filled chocolate eclair. I've always wanted to do those things successfully.

Okay, but not in my oven. My oven is whacked and the pate a choux risks burning.

Eclairs need three things: the pate a choux, the pastry cream, and the chocolate glaze. The glaze is dead easy. The pate a choux is not hard if you have a stand mixer so you don't throw out your shoulder. The pastry cream is trickier but I would be happy to work with you on it.

Got a good heavy bottomed saucepan and an instant read thermometer?

Hm...
Does it count if I list the fun things we've already done together and say I want to do them again?

If so: enter Masquerades (as long as you're not pregnant...), game, storyjam, cook.

If not: go to Pennsic together.
