Dishwashing is TIRING. And I seem to have shin splints. So I'm kind of tottering around. I still need to get out to the grocery store and the post office, clean the bathroom, and do my laundry. And figure out what's for dinner. I may feed everyone else something they like and indulge myself with sauteed greens-and-onions and a poached egg; I find myself craving it.

I have done the dishes HERE, which is something. And I did spend a lot of the morning reading I Am Ozzy, which I got out of the library yesterday on [livejournal.com profile] stoney321's recommendation, and was she ever right, because it's HILARIOUS. Even when it's a train wreck, which it is for most of the time. I have to assume that someone just sat down and got him talking and recorded it and then edited down the transcripts, because the style is VERY conversational. There's no way that man should be alive. And I would not have wanted to be there for any of it. But reading about it after is the funniest thing EVER, even when it's tragic. Go read it!

Bathroom. Shower. Laundry. Groceries. I can do it, right?

Ah, but I am only making myself clean ALL the BATHROOM things, and I went to the BANK like a motherfucking ADULT yesterday. The bank is right across from the staffing agency, which lets me get my paycheck in with minimum delay!

Oh, FINE THEN. Know your limitations and how to effectively plan your time management, you ADULT, you! :P

If you would like to come over here and figure out what to feed two fussy vegetarians who can't cook very well on the nights when I'll be working during dinnertime, I'll hand the Adult title over to you, and curl up in a little whimpering ball instead, because it's driving me crazy.

As much as I would covet such a title, I'll pass. They'd probably starve, because I'd cook something and then not feed them if they didn't eat what I cooked. There'd probably be yelling, too

Do they like curry? There's a marvelous 660 Curries book out that is fantastic.

One likes curry in a sufficient variety. The other ONLY likes makhani paneer.

I have given up on yelling because I've learned that [livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine isn't trying to be difficult, it's actually a pretty heavy-duty sensory integration problem combined with supertaster issues. If you'd seen the full-body shudder that happened when she tried a really sweetened, really chocolaty mocha coffee drink, or the flailing when she touches too much gritty cornmeal on the bottom of a pizza, well. Perhaps she could have addressed it by desensitizing in childhood, but I don't think she's got the neuroplasticity now.

Ahhhh . . . got it. I gotta say, when I was younger I had a lot of those same issues--tastes were always stronger than they seemed to be for others, and texture alone turned me off certain foods for years. When my Crohn's was bad, smells could nauseate me pretty quickly, too.

As I got older, though? Everything smoothed out substantially, and now I'll eat just about anything that my body doesn't react negatively to. Maybe the same will happen for [livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine.

Er. She turns 30 in December. So probably not. The teenage offspring is fussy in different ways.

Hmmm. Maybe not, then.

Um . . . she could take up smoking? That'd help kill the taste buds.

Yeah no, considering even being in a room with cigarette residue gives her sinus headaches.

But tonight I tried a new flavor on her -- I mixed Stonewall Kitchen fig-ginger jam with some balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and put two Quorn cutlets in a foil packet with that mixture and some garlic cloves and baked it, and she declared it tasty, so I count that a win!

Um . . . gargling with bleach?

Your mixture sounds way, way, waaaaaaay yummy. OM NOM NOM NOM!

That jam was the base for the balsamic dressing for the goat-cheese-craisins-candied-nuts-field-greens salad at Michaele's, where I used to work. It is VERY nommy!

We're having similar days. Dialysis intake paperwork, clean dishes, clean fridge. Next up, grocery and restock fridge. Then phone calls to DSS and SSA.

Yes you can! can! can!

I spend most of my day reading The Daily Show's Earth and will definitely put the Ozzy book on my to-read list! I never even knew he had one...
