Test your memory and your love of live music by listing 50 artists or bands (or as many as you can remember) you've seen in concert.
List the first 50 acts that come into your head. An act you saw at a festival and opening acts count, but only if you can't think of 50 other artists.
Oh, and list the first concert you ever saw (you can remember that, can’t you)?

I misread the instructions, so my list is going to be longer than 50. I put opening bands that I wouldn't have cared about seeing otherwise in parentheses; there are plenty of opening bands I've since gone to see as headliners, and a couple of times I've gone to see an "opener" and left before the headliner. And I'm counting festival bands because the band lineup is what determines whether I go to a festival.

Wow. I don't think I've seen ten bands in concert. I don't get out much. :)

Truly, it's my main hobby, and that list goes back to my first concert in 1984 (the first one listed). I've had a lot of time to rack up the numbers.

If you were local I'd just drag you out with me, and you'd learn the joys of grabbing center barricade for a band on their first tour, or keeping just outside the borders of the pit for something like the Dropkick Murphys (hey! I forgot to list them!), or taking a four-hour road trip because the band in question ISN'T COMING ANY CLOSER on this tour (that was Tiger Army and I forgot to list them too!), or managing the sunscreen-and-staying-hydrated demands of a summer festival. And maybe you'd catch a guitar pick or a drumstick, or get the band members to sign your ticket afterwards at the merch table...

...yeah. It's my main hobby.

I do appreciate the sentiment, it's very nice of you and I might like to go once in a great while. But between being autistic and having fibromyalgia going to concerts, especially ones where I have to stand the whole time, can be a problem for me. I had to leave a Dresden Dolls show early because my body was giving out and the PA was making my brain do bad things and I have a monster huge crush on Amanda Palmer and have "Coin-Operated Boy" as the ringtone on my phone. I don't get out much because I like it at home.

But that was a very sweet offer, thank you!

Ooh, yeah, fibro makes the whole standing part really problematic, and the sensory-processing issues that come along with spectrum disorders can make even a seated concert challenging sometimes. Ask my best friend about the time some of the sonic effects Deadsy used at one of their shows gave her a screaming migraine. Or the time we went to see MCR at the Nassau Coliseum in the middle of winter (waiting four hours in line in serious wind chill because we had GA tickets and wanted a good spot) and someone standing right next to us had an ITCHY WOOL JACKET on and she was crushed right up against the itchy wool.

Now, the Worcester Palladium when they've got the balcony open, so seats, plus earplugs to take the top 30 decibels off, you might have a decent chance.

It wasn't actually a migraine. It was all very rumbly and low, vibrating all through my chest, and then they hit some crazy high-pitched note, and it was like I lost consciousness for a split second. And then I spent the rest of their set having a panic attack that it might happen again.

My list is something like this:

Phil Collins once
Billy Joel three or four times
Indigo Girls once

That's it.

I'm not sure how well you'd like most of the bands I go to see, but you have an open invitation!

I haven't been to many concerts, but the ones I can recall are

Bob Dylan
The Tubes (free concert on campus)
B52s
Frank Zappa
James Taylor (my mother worked with his father, so we went back stage afterwards)
Larry Deluca (a friend)
Rolling Stones (possibly, memory from childhood)
KC and the Sunshine Band (at a beach in Canada)
Christine Lavin (many times)
Four Bitchin' Babes
The Bobs (a couple of times)
Dave Brubeck
Arrogant Worms
(Vicka and Johanna's band, I'm forgetting their name)
Pink Floyd
Pink Void (great PF cover band)
Fracture (Lizzit and Walter's band)
Ashley MacIsaac (free in-store concert)
Beyonce (free concert at a car event, I only paused for a few minutes on my way out)
Boiled In Lead
Heather Alexander (twice)

Weren't you part of the FTP expedition to Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe (who I also left off my list)? Or am I remembering wrong?

I don't think so, but I saw Pink Floyd with Janet and Walter (and someone else).

Makes sense. I think the ABWH one involved Janet and Walter and Vicka, and maybe others as well.

I forgot about Paula Cole and Jill Sobel(sp?)

Wow, that's an impressive list!

I've recently become interested in Flogging Molly - how were they live?

Fantastic. I've seen them four times and I caught a drumstick at the show I went to for my birthday. Wear sturdy shoes or risk a broken toe, and be aware that the BAND may stage-dive.

Lilith Fair II (above, plus Liz Phair)
Tori Amos (3 times)
Alanis Morrissette

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
Aimee Mann
Lez Zeppelin
Gogol Bordello (twice)
Jethro Tull
Yamato
Torsion

I remember the A23 concert (you had LED bracelets!) -- there was a train wreck of a date involved, too -- but which CXS show? TT the Bear's?
