Sometimes I wonder...
Dec. 31st, 2003 03:15 pmif the universe around me isn't just some sort of complicated simulation that responds to the amount of attention I pay it.
We like to go out to eat, when we can.
For some time, the TGI Friday's near Westfarms was our default choice, partly for the Very Large Drinks, and partly because Charlotte loved the Cup O' Dirt.
Knowing this, Christy's mother gave her/us a gift card for Friday's for a holiday present. Since it's a chain restaurant, that's easy to do.
While we appreciated the gift card, it's less reflective of our current habits. Our default has become the City Steam, a local brewpub and restaurant, because a) the beer's super, b) the food's better, c) there's one steak salad in particular that Christy loves, and it lets her save her carbs for dessert, and d) Charlotte can have one of their nice pizzas, and not bug us about menu choices. (How did I get a picky eater?)
However, tonight we figured we'd use the gift card. For an early dinner, because RotK is playing on the Odyssey screen at the Crown Palace at 9. Woo! So Mark calls ahead to see if they are doing reservations or just call-ahead-put-name-on-list.
Out of service.
Weird.
Information doesn't have a new number. Website doesn't either.
Puzzled but undaunted, we try the next nearest one, in Manchester. No reservations, call-ahead, and... do you know what happened to the Farmington one?
It closed last week.
