Progress report
Dec. 29th, 2003 09:56 pmOur Entwife,
purple_and_grey, now has a crinoline, and the poodle skirt is mostly complete. I have to handstitch the wiastband down, and I'll need to put in elastic that the pattern didn't call for because I made a mistake in geometry, but that'll just make the skirt foofier, after all. The tree trunk is satin-stitched down, and the sequin leash is zigzagged on. Just waiting for
ghilledhu to send me the leaf sequins.
Crinolines are evil evil things to sew. The net likes to snag on the presser foot. I am going to check the snitzy children's clothing store in West Hartford Center to see how much they want for a girl's crinoline, because I don't really want to sew another one for Charlotte if I don't have to.
Why do my hands always get filthy after I work on a sewing project? Is it just ink-smear from the pattern tissue, or something else?
I don't have to sew a crinoline for myself, because
ghilledhu traded me the Crinoline of Mischief, which I assume is just slightly less foofy than the Crinoline of Doom, for the use of my mother's wedding gown crinoline from 1964. It takes two crinolines to foof out her dress. But we got the underskirt hem done on Friday.
Tomorrow, I'm going to get MY poodle skirt done.
Whee!
