Right now there's a hair doodad with large blue plastic deedleballs (seriously, do those things have a name? What are they? I think the last time [livejournal.com profile] melovechocolate actually wore them, she was about eight) holding the glass doors of my little curio cabinet from Pier 1 shut.

This is because the vintage stereo components I'd wanted to put in it are maybe an inch deeper than the shelves. Boo, hiss.

At least this makes it irrelevant that I can't find the drill. I was going to drill holes in the back to pass cords through. I was going to do this before I moved the cabinet into place in the study, but I couldn't find the drill.

I'm leaving the cabinet there for now, because it's still better than randomly stacking the components around the room, and it was sitting where I want to move something ELSE in my bedroom.

Hence the deedle-balls.

Anybody got a component stereo rack or cabinet, or even a set of open-backed bookshelves no wider than 36", that they're not using?

At least while I was moving things around, I washed the windows in the study, because I had the Windex out to clean the cabinet doors. Only the room sides, because I wasn't about to take the frames apart with a screwdriver to get at the outsides of the glass, but it's better than no washing at all.

In the process, I managed to wreck one of the windowshades. [livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine fixed it with thumbtacks. It probably still won't go up and down easily, but it's pulled halfway, which is good enough for most purposes.

In the process of looking for the drill, I found a random telephone -- cordless unit with base. So I plugged it in. It seems to work, and that means that now there's a phone in the study.

I tucked the extra-long ethernet cord into the little cabinet that used to be my altar that I'm using as an end table. One less thing on the surface of [livejournal.com profile] melovechocolate's desk for when school starts.

It's progress.

I call them hair bobbles. Or, cat toys.

Oooo, deedleballs. That's a great word. Sounds like it could apply to something a lot less innocent. Probably why I like it. Kewl.

I don't know how far from Cromwell you live, but if you want new shades, the Fabric Place there is closing(lost the lease) and the closing sale starts tomorrow. I know we sent most of our clearance shades and curtains down there so that they can hopefully get rid of it all, and there's some nice stuff in there.
