LASIK update

Had my one-week checkup today.

The flaps have not wrinkled, there has been no debris lodged in them, and I am seeing very close to 20/20.

I don't have to use the medicated drops any more, or wear the goggles to sleep or work, and the sunglasses are at my discretion. I am cleared for swimming (but not diving), and I am supposed to keep using the artificial tears, lots of them.

I could not be more thrilled!

If you don't mind my asking, what was your correction pre-op?

Not too dreadful -- -1.25 or thereabouts, with a fair lot of astigmatism.

So they didn't have to take off that much corneal surface to fix it, unlike those with worse correction.

I was just sick and tired of breaking/losing/paying for/WEARING eyeglasses!

Wow, only -1.25, things have changed, for years they wouldn't touch you is you were less than (greater than?) a -3.0.

FWIW, I was at -8.25 when I had mine done. I was corrected to a +.25 which is effectively 20/15.

Very glad to hear that it's worked so well for you. I had it four years ago, and while I'm probably more like 20/25 now (not seeing quite as perfectly as I did the first few months after surgery) I'm still absolutely thrilled with the results.

yeah!!! that is great! B said that LASIK was the best thing ever. I still ware glasses but mostly for driving and compuoter stuff, my vision isn't very bad. also I'm a big chicken about stuff coming near my eyes.

B loved getting rid of his glasses.
