Okay. Based on a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] the_red_shoes, I have determined that I need a filter for People Who Love The Smithereens.

[livejournal.com profile] suburbfabulous, I already know to put you on it.

I have no idea what I'm going to use it for, although yousendit links for other music I love comes to mind.

Comment if you want to be added.

Oh yes they do. I was a wee one of 13 when I discovered that college rock wasn't just for the college kids. 1986 was a great year for jangly guitar pop, and along with the Jersey boys' Especially For You LP, we had:

REM/Life's Rich Pageant
Let's Active/Big Plans For Everybody
They Might Be Giants/TMBG
Husker Du/Candy Apple Grey
The Smiths/The Queen Is Dead
New Order/Brotherhood
XTC/Skylarking
The B52's/Bouncing Off The Satellites

I'm sure I am missing others. I should do a college rock filter and upload some rare stuff I have. Hmmmm...

Yes, yes! I have and love all those albums, except the B's and Let's Active (who?). sigh. I miss Husker Du. A lot.

See, and now you have met one of the DJs for Shag Frenzy, which if you did not live all the way on the other coast, you'd need to come to, just like I told you on [livejournal.com profile] matociquala's journal.

Let's Active was basically Mitch Easter and a rotating group of musicians. Had a semi-big college hit called "Every Word Means No" back in '84 or so. Mitch produced the first two REM albums with Don Dixon. Worth searching out for sure.
