To-do list, not very interesting

1) Find copier paper boxes, those being the only size suitable for books
2) Empty bedroom bookshelves, deciding which ones I REALLY need to take with me
3) Put empty bookshelves in car
4) Put books in car
5) Maybe put certain framed artwork in car
6) Work on financial affidavit
7) If this gets done quicker than I expect, start packing dishes

All this before I pick the kiddo up at 3 for her Tae Kwon Do lesson.

Anyone who's around, I appreciate company.

Best of luck with the move! Just a note, as someone who's moved a lot of books very often - liquor store boxes are also very good for them, since they're small enough to lift when they're full. Around here at least you can get as many as you want for free from a government liquor store.

Also good for books, (doubled-up if necessary) plastic grocery bags, the size Safeway makes. They'll hold about 20 paperbacks or 5ish hardbacks each, you can tie them shut, they are flexier in the car, and you can carry them by handles or in your arms, maybe a couple at a time.

I certainly have plenty of those! I'm really trying to sort through my books, though, and only take with me the ones I really care about having to hand. And once I get through the ready-fiction section from the bedroom bookshelves, a lot of the keepers are Big Reference Tomes, like my coffee-table Tres Riches Heures of the Duc de Berry, and the annotated Sherlock Holmes in two oversized volumes, and the Riverside Chaucer... not so great for grocery bags.


But I will keep it in mind if I run out of boxes.

Liquor boxes do well for books. They're not too large, and they're sturdy enough to carry fragile bottles full of liquid.
