The floor guy will show up.

See, last night, we got a call, and I nearly hung up on them thinking it was a telemarketer, but no. It was someone saying that we'd won a prize in a drawing, choice of a carpet cleaning, upholstery deep cleaning, or wood floor buffing and polishing, free.

Apparently, buying some replacement vacuum cleaner bags for my Kirby got me entered in this drawing. Or that's as near as I can figure.

So, since we don't have wall-to-wall in the house and I don't think that upholstery cleaning works for beans, I said "floor polishing please." And chose a 3:30 appointment time.

So I have been working since about 9 AM, throwing out clutter and junk so that it became possible to move all the furniture out of the front entry and the stair landing, so the floor guy could get at it.

For those of you who wonder how much furniture can BE in a front entry, much less on a stair landing, let me enlighten you. In the front entry, we have a full-sized sofa against the stairs, an area rug and a footlocker (serving as a coffee table and holding linens for the sofa bed) in front of it, a floor lamp, a kitchen chair for putting on boots and stuff, a small secretary that does hold my stationery but was mainly serving as a godawful mail-catcher, and a medium-sized chest of drawers, also in the godawful mail-catcher category. At least mail that we think we should hang on to can get stuffed in the drawers.

The landing is large enough to hold four smallish bookshelves (two 2-shelf units that fit under the windows and two 1x1 towers flanking the windows) without noticeably impeding traffic.

I had JUST finished vacuuming the now-bare floors when the floor guy called to say he was running late but was on his way.

I really, really hope he'll do the stairs as well as the entry.

Any time now.

Hurrah for Floor Guy!

Stuffed house.

I so understand the concept of furniture everywhere. My house has improved somewhat since I posted this (http://djinnthespazz.blogspot.com/2001_12_01_djinnthespazz_archive.html#7679133), but not much.

Luck on the stairs!
