[livejournal.com profile] adpaz was berating herself for not taking a nap when she hadn't slept well the night before and she knew she had things to accomplish for the next day.

Here's what I posted in her comments:

Heh. I know that ALL TOO WELL now, with my new screwy schedule.

I didn't work this morning. But I didn't stay up through, either. I slept, from... uh... whenever I got off the computer last night, probably midnight-ish, to 8:30 AM, and then I got up and ate breakfast and had my unemployment hearing by phone and ran errands and stuff, and then I got home around noon and did I sleep like a sensible person? No, I did not. I got on the computer and futzed around. Ate lunch, which WAS sensible; cleaned the kitchen, although I should have done more, because [livejournal.com profile] shadowflyer is having an attack of plantar fasciitis and shouldn't stand at all; took [livejournal.com profile] melovechocolate shoe shopping (she's right on the border between kid and adult sizes and this presents a style problem, because, good Lord, she's only NINE, and beaded slides with kitten heels are JUST TOO MUCH... then it was time to cook dinner, and I am going out dancing tonight with my friend [livejournal.com profile] grey_and_purple and going in to work from THERE.

Well, I'll sleep very well 10-4 tomorrow, which is my plan ANYWAY.

I think late night fast food before work is probably a smart idea.

Alyssa now officially wears womens size 7 shoes and it's a serious pain to find appropriate clothes and shoes for her

That's my shoe size. If she needs dressy summer shoes I have a pair of bone flats with bows left over from my corporate days... she'd probably hate them, but at least they're not trampy.

Maybe China flats are the answer, for a while.

Charlotte is just shifting from a 4 1/2 to a 5, and ye GODS, what a difference. And she rejected the size 4 1/2 white sandals with the flower and butterfly appliques with "I may be only nine, but I'm not six." eeek.

I will be very glad when this "Malibu Barbie meets Frederick's of Hollywood" fashion trend wears itself out.

I hit size 7 when I was about ten and my mom got me some plain old keds slip-ons because everything else was either clunky grandma shoes or pointy four inch heels. Dr. Martins and Birkenstock make cool yet sensible shoes, but are also sort of pricey.

I am on deadline, hence I am going to take a nap RIGHT NOW.

It's human nature, baby!

Perhaps you might know it better as a fuck-me shoe.

Mules. Sandals with no back, just a broad band of fabric or leather across the instep. The ones in question were an imitation of silk shantung, with beaded decoration.

And a kitten heel is about an inch high, starting very narrow at the sole and then broadening a little towards the ground. Sort of a miniature version of a Louis heel.

In any case, too grown-up for a nine-year-old, no matter how pretty they are.

I guess Talis really is on the smaller side for her age; she is wearing size 7 clothes mostly, anything bigger tends to fall off, and her shoe size is 2... and even then it is hard to find anything I call appropriate.

I didn't remember Charlotte being that much bigger than Talis, btu it has been a while since they've seen each other.

When I was a kid, I was so small for my age that I had to ride the short bus. I couldn't climb the steps in the big bus. My doctor was talking to my mother about me possibly being a dwarf. Mom was so happy when I finally hit a growth spurt. LOL.

It strikes me that this is probably a good time to educate our favourite small blonde object on what high heels can do to a person's feet and back. Might not be necessary; she strikes me as a sneaker sort anyway ...
