Do not be fooled by my cleaning-demon posts, here.

That Asian tea set, which is now nicely displayed on the shelf bit of the china cabinet?

The newspapers wrapping it?

February 2004.

But it's unwrapped and displayed all pretty and stuff.

Today has been the day for interruptions. Old co-worker Kyle from Wild Oats, formerly Arrow at Cheese & Stuff, prior to that known as Linda... at the door, with a flyer for some rally or other, actually looking for someone else who lives on our street. More recently, old co-worker Jen, from Michaele's, because she didn't get her W-2 form (probably NOT a result of the chaos, but because JEN moved, and Michaele might not have gotten the forwarding address to Paychex back in August), and Michaele, obviously, is not answering her phone, and Jen needed to straighten out her taxes. She's going to be filing an extension, all right, but I gave her phone numbers, for Michaele and also for co-workers who might have Michaele's cell.

Jen, in return, told me where Michaele's actual house is, so I can tell Shauna, in case Shauna wants to knock on her door and ask for the money she's owed.

Jen's still at the high-end bakery job she went to after she left Michaele's, and happy there. She also told me that she bagged on frosting the cupcakes for Dancing UnderThe Stars last September because she'd just gotten a collections call from the hospital over a bill that Michaele was supposed to have paid as workers' comp for a cut on her finger that needed stitches, and it was on her credit report, and she was feeling pretty cheesed off at Michaele, so she decided the hell with it.

Jen said that she'd known that Michaele had been trying to sell the place for a year, and she hadn't been allowed to tell people about it. So it was NOT MY KITCHEN MANAGEMENT, dammit. There are times when I have my worries, you see.

And the timer went off a few minutes ago, so I'm going back to work in there.

NOT MY KITCHEN MANAGEMENT

Aw, sweetie, we never doubted that IT WAS NOT YOU.

Know that feeling, tho. I surely do.
Love the info-go-round on Michaele. She can run, but she can't hide. Ha.

I'd already filed Michaele under "People I Want To Pound and Pound and Pound with a Shovel", but the more I hear about the whole situation the more Schadenfreude I get just thinking of the Process Suppositories some legal eagles are going to be slipping to her. Can o' Whoop-Ass for lubricant? More like a 55-Gallon Drum of Whoop-Ass Concentrate, fortified with pleasant-smelling lemon-juice extract.

And I've never met the, ahem, lady. That babe is so, so, SO! screwed. Mark will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure, but I think failure to issue a W-2 puts her into Federal turf now. And not just any Federal turf -- IRS turf.

Tangling with IRS lawyers is like trying to have sex with a lobster.

Good luck, Michaele.

Wasn't your fault. In any organisation, shit rolls downhill, but responsibility accumulates uphill. You gave that place far more that you should have and far more than it deserved. With your work, Michaele could have made a go of it if she'd been smart.
