I've seen Six Mile Bridge!

But I don't think I've seen 20 artists total.

I have loved them since 1985, although I did not get to see them until.. um... 1992ish. One of the major reasons I wanted a fake ID in high school was not so much to drink (if I wanted to drink, I could find ways) but to get into clubs so I could see bands like the Smithereens.

Well, sure, they were local for you!

I could have come up with more, I guess, but they'd be getting even more obscure if I did.

I saw them in... 1991? Went up to St Anslem's where my friend Jason was doing the lights for their show. :)

I saw Jethro Tull on their 25-year anniversary tour.

Six Mile Bridge (or at least a major subset thereof -- Maggie, Anders and Frances) played the waltz for our first dance at our wedding reception! (I also saw them in concert a few times....)

Oh, and I also saw Melissa Etheridge opening for the Eagles on their "Hell Freezes Over" tour.... Does that count?

Sure! I counted the Bangles even though they were the opening act for Mr. Mister, because they were a lot better than the main act.

Oh. I probably ought to count Bob Dylan because he was touring with the Dead one of the times I saw him.

There's a decent amount of celtic music in TX, or at least used to be; I don't have the resources to go all the time like I used to.

*sniffle* I miss Clandestine.

The only non-obscure musicians I've seen are Arlo Guthrie, They Might Be Giants, and (for some definitions of non-obscure) Steeleye Span.

The Grateful Dead
Boiled in Lead
David Bowie

I used to go see bands all the time, but that habit dropped off with mortgage and kids.

Wait, are you a Houston person? I was for many, many years, and then came to this part of the country. But I spent a lot of time watching Ceili's Muse/SixMileBridge at the Mucky Duck. I only managed to see Clandestine once or twice.

Here are the ones I've got in common with you:

The Moody Blues (twice)
David Bowie (once)
Jefferson Airplane (well, okay, I saw Jefferson Starship, but close enough, right?)
Six Mile Bridge (many, many, many, including producing some like the one you saw)

Austin. My ex-husband and I used to practically stalk Two O'Clock Courage.

They were actually billing themselves as Jefferson Airplane when I saw them, in 1989. Post-"Starship." Grace Slick had lost a LOT of the top of her range, but they compensated all right for it.

I don't think I have twenty!

I've seen Rathkeltair, but that's about it for your list.

On my own:

Tempest (many times)
The Indigo Girls (1)
Phish (1)
Weird Al (2)
Clam Chowder (...3?)
Voltaire (1)

...I think that's it. Not really a big concert-goer.

I saw them in like 1986 or 1987. Definitely billed as Starship. It was a summer outdoor concert at Six Flags in Dallas. Good fun.

Not much overlap, huh?

Boiled in Lead.

I should start seeing more shows, since I no longer have to worry about the smokiness of the venue (at least in Massachusetts). Gotta do something about the constant exhaustion...

Ack. I haven't seen any of those. Since I have to come up with 20 all on my own...let's see... Numbers will often be approximate.

NRBQ (8)
Robyn Hitchcock (6)
Iron & Wine (1)
Doves (1 - god, this one was LOUD)
Neil Young (1)
Billy Joel (1 - free tickets)
Yes (2)
Ani DiFranco (7)
Cherish The Ladies (2)
The Drovers (1)
Wilco (1)
Bill Frisell (1)
Joe Jackson (3)
Shawn Colvin (1)
Asleep at the Wheel (1)
Tori Amos (1)
They Might Be Giants (1)
Kitchens of Distinction (1)
Suzanne Vega (1)
Warren Zevon (1 - nearly 3 hours late, but at least he started with "Lawyers, Guns and Money")

Other one-offs that didn't make the list mainly because I got dragged to them: America, Three Dog Night, Harry Connick Jr., Tommy Cash. I love America's older stuff and was actually looking forward to she show, so it was hugely disappointing to see Dewey Bunnell forget the words to "A Horse With No Name" in concert.

And, now that you mention it, I've got some names in common with you. Neil Young -- on the Blue Notes tour, which was crappy; Yes -- or, well, I guess it was Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe, in 1990; and Cherish the Ladies, at a terrific free concert in East Hartford a few years back.

And that's depressing about "Horse With No Name." Weren't they "Sister Golden Hair" too? I have a quiet fondness for that song.

Oh! Yes! I've seen Tempest! Drove all the way to Boston for a small Irish festival just because they were playing there.

Jethro Tull (I'd never heard of them; went on a date - dropped the date, kept the album)
The Moody Blues (date)
Boiled in Lead (heard 'em in someone's house. the bass player had a date in town, I think)
Six Mile Bridge (sorry they dropped Wolf)

Well, wow, a whole four of 'em!
