There's a decent amount of celtic music in TX, or at least used to be; I don't have the resources to go all the time like I used to.

*sniffle* I miss Clandestine.

The only non-obscure musicians I've seen are Arlo Guthrie, They Might Be Giants, and (for some definitions of non-obscure) Steeleye Span.

Wait, are you a Houston person? I was for many, many years, and then came to this part of the country. But I spent a lot of time watching Ceili's Muse/SixMileBridge at the Mucky Duck. I only managed to see Clandestine once or twice.

I have loved them since 1985, although I did not get to see them until.. um... 1992ish. One of the major reasons I wanted a fake ID in high school was not so much to drink (if I wanted to drink, I could find ways) but to get into clubs so I could see bands like the Smithereens.

I saw Jethro Tull on their 25-year anniversary tour.

Six Mile Bridge (or at least a major subset thereof -- Maggie, Anders and Frances) played the waltz for our first dance at our wedding reception! (I also saw them in concert a few times....)

Sure! I counted the Bangles even though they were the opening act for Mr. Mister, because they were a lot better than the main act.

They were actually billing themselves as Jefferson Airplane when I saw them, in 1989. Post-"Starship." Grace Slick had lost a LOT of the top of her range, but they compensated all right for it.

I saw them in like 1986 or 1987. Definitely billed as Starship. It was a summer outdoor concert at Six Flags in Dallas. Good fun.

And, now that you mention it, I've got some names in common with you. Neil Young -- on the Blue Notes tour, which was crappy; Yes -- or, well, I guess it was Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe, in 1990; and Cherish the Ladies, at a terrific free concert in East Hartford a few years back.

And that's depressing about "Horse With No Name." Weren't they "Sister Golden Hair" too? I have a quiet fondness for that song.
