It is NOT what I expected.
I was kind of picturing a rectangle with plain flat shelves going all the way across. You know, for BOOKS.
This is more of a "wall unit," with variously-sized open compartments, drawers, cabinet space, and even a drop-down desklike area.
It is, however, quite big and solid, and fits very nicely on the selected wall.
I have declared the drop-down section the Bar Area, and I've moved all the liquor bottles into it. Also some tumblers, brandy glasses, and cordial glasses, which are small enough to fit on the small shelf inside. This has already freed up some nice space inside the built-in china closet for various fancy dishes.
I am not entirely sure what else I'll store in it right away.
But I think that when I re-set the room, I might even be able to put down the rug my parents gave me.
The dining room may yet turn into a usable ROOM again, instead of a mere Disaster Area.
Wow.
