And today, I think it worked.

We had a lot of nuisancey stuff to do in the morning, what with a special order for peanut butter chocolate chip bars, and a lunch order for sandwiches, couscous salad, and a cookie platter, but I did get the lunch salads and sandwiches out by 11:30, and soups out by 12:30 (we had a bit of a Soup Emergency today, guess why, because she wouldn't let me prep earlier in the week).

And then she chopped mirepoix so I could make a mushroom barley soup, and I got that going, and on to the sixteen pear blackberry pies. With a bit of blackberry brandy in the mixture.

I took 11.5 hours, not the 10.5 she wanted, but she had better not complain about it. I got a lot of stuff done.

And I must remember that the Rocky Horror soundtrack is an extraordinarily cheerful thing to listen to at work.

Carrots, onions, and celery, diced and sauteed as a flavor base for soups and stews. You can't hardly make ANYTHING without it.

*dutifully takes notes*

I don't make much in the way of soups/stews normally (I'm a skillet-sautee'r myself) except Stone Soup (and you really ought to join the [livejournal.com profile] gothfood community, it's low-traffic and I'd *love* to see some of your recipes!), but that sounds yummmmy ;>

I have been following the saga of your work troubles for some time and I felt I must take a moment to say that your posts always make me hungry. Thought you ought to know. :oD

You ought to make your boss aware that there's some particular music that means she had better do just about anything, anything, other than poke her head into the kitchen.

I'm thinking that Sisters of Mercy would probably be a good warning sign. That or Johnny Cash. :-)

That's what my Rock Against Bush punk CD is for!

Although I would LOVE to have a copy of "Floodland" again. Our copy bit the dust after too much traveling and attendant scratches.

Well, let's see, I was going to be ripping a backup copy of it for myself anyway.

But then it just might occur to me that burning out a copy of Floodland is one of the richest sources of Goth Points there is ('cos after all, if you haven't burned out at least two copies, you just like to wear a lot of black).

At which point, I'd have a superfluous copy lying around.

And while transferring a copied recording permanently to another person will bring down the Wrath of the Nazgul RIAA, loaning will not.

As in indefinite-term loaning.

As in "as long as my estate, or that of an heir who is extraordinarily unlikely to come into being, receives the copy back from your estate or that of Charlotte, that's fine" loaning.

So maybe I will go ahead and rip that backup.

Yes.
