The countdown begins...
Jul. 31st, 2003 08:52 pmAfter tomorrow, I have ONE week of class left.
I still don't have my externship lined up.
I do have some more promising leads, though. I went in person today to:
Montana Mills (where I used to work before the layoff)
Lox, Stock & Bagels (next door)
Waldbaum's Super Foodmart (which has a scratch bakery)
Macaroni Grill
Cosi
and
Michaele's.
Michaele's actually looks like it has potential. One of my former Wild Oats coworkers is working counter there, and smiled when she saw me; I spoke to the owner and the kitchen manager; AND the kitchen manager says they need an early morning person, because she needs to come in later and stay later so she can oversee the afternoon shifts as well.
I want those morning hours. I covet those morning hours. 4 AM to noon, baby! Then I get home, do a little housework, get dinner prepped, meet the munchkin's bus, and Eat Dinner With My Family, all with time for e-mail. And if I'm in bed by 9:30, I can count on 6 hours of sleep, which is about all I CAN get anyway, given the medication. And that's a good bedtime for all of us.
So, if I get that, it would really work out well.
I'll be handing out more tomorrow:
The Pond House Cafe
Arugula
Bruegger's Bagels
call first to Shaw's, Stop & Shop, & BJs to see how much scratch baking they do.
And I'll re-contact the City Steam.
Whew.
