In other news, Kragar's paralysis has returned. He's spending his last night on my lap, and tomorrow we're going to take him to be put to sleep. It's not fair to him to cling to hope that's not there and let him starve to death, the poor baby.

They have kittens for adoption at the vet. Some people say "I could never get a new kitten right away." I think I need the insane kitten cuteness to stave off serious depression.

Thanks for all the well-wishes... they have been a comfort to me.

I'm glad Kragar has good people who love him enough to do what's best for him, no matter how hard it is.

*pets him and hugs you*

i had to do the same to a doggie with a brain tumor. i got a new puppy the next week. the insane puppy cuteness (not to mention hassle of potty training) worked for me.
((hugs to you both ))

I adopted a stray cat about two weeks after my (very old) dog died. The cat turned out to be pregnant. Two months later, there were four kittens. I kept two of them. It took three cats to replace one little dog. :p

It did help, though. Ear-scratched for Kragar and hugs for you. :(

Aw, I'm sorry. This icon is my baby that we had to put down last month. He was 15. I couldn't get a new baby; our lease specified this guy by name. Wah! Anyway, yeah, you can't keep him surviving for no real hope. That was how we felt, too: if there had been hope of a good outcome, we'd have force-fed him to keep him alive, but really, the best they could offer was making him sorta-comfortable for a couple of months. Um, no.

(((hugs)))

**hugs** Oh, hon, I'm so sorry . . . I lost my 20-year-old cat in December, I know how hard it is . . .

We're currently fostering Alex's (my ex-lover, heh) fiancee's cat on a temp-to-perm basis, and it's amazing just how much I *missed* having a furbaby around the house . . . so, yes, I understand the thought about kittens. You're not at all replacing Kragar or taking away his place in your heart, you're just giving another cat a place in your *lap* and your home, and a chance at a new life with your family . . . which is sweet and generous all around.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. It's hard, but it is the kindest thing. My thoughts are with you guys today.

Go in peace, sweet kitty.

My sympathies to you and yours. It's heart-wrenching, sock-you-in-the-gut to have to make a decision for his best interest when you have to say goodbye. I still miss Alexander, whom I lived with for 16 years. You're very kind to be so good to your kitty.

*HUGS*

And I know what you mean about the kitten. I lasted maybe 2 days before adopting Nicholas into my life. Orange People are very cheerful, and cheerfulness is a good thing in a time of mourning.
