Aluminum foil makes a very pretty gift wrapping, and you probably already have some around the house.

With a real fabric ribbon -- I always seem to have lots of these, YMMV -- it even looks DRESSY.

This message brought to you by my total inability to remember where I put my gift wrapping paper, if I even brought any with me when I moved.

Also, in a pinch, you can sculpt it into an octopus candleholder for those times you've forgotten a gift. If you put ribbon/yarn/wiggly eyes on it, it shows intention, and then it's Art and not Oh Shit It's December Again I Forgot!

Not that I would ever do such a thing.

Repeatedly.

For years.

Googly eyes make EVERYTHING more awesome. Have you read the Amy Sedaris books on crafting? I think they would amuse you.

Not yet, but I've seen her Meat Cake recipe on tv, and have resolved to make it for this years SuperBowl party.

Which will, of course, be candlelit.

The Sunday funnies were always the emergency wrapping of choice at my house.

That assumes you have a newspaper subscription. In this the age of the internet, I don't! I do, however, have TWO rolls of aluminum foil, which in this the age of the microwave I practically never use. Therefore, gift wrapping!

Heh. There's a reason I've gone over to gift-bags. They're cheap, and I can save and reuse any that I get from someone else!

When I owned a six-bedroom Victorian house, I had a dresser in the living room where one drawer was entirely full of wrapping paper, both new and salvaged, and gift bags, mostly salvaged. Any gift bags I've gotten since the move have already been recycled onto other gifts, and I was caught short.

Also, this particular present will be best with full concealment, because it's that awesome.
