things I do not understand

I have reached the stage in this cold where my nose and throat are filled with thick gunk, my chest is tight (unless it's just that this bra is too small?) and my stomach is queasy from swallowing the aforementioned thick gunk.

But I'm not actually impaired enough to count as SICK, really.

I am quite certain I used one mug, one bowl, one custard cup, and one fork yesterday. Nevertheless, the kitchen is full of dirty dishes again.

I hope everyone else is having a better holiday weekend.

It may not be 'on your deathbed', but it sounds like sick to me !

Hot shower, sudafed (the real stuff, not that new crap), ginger tea, physical activity until you're tired, enough simple food to replenesh caloric reserves, sleep, repeat.
