Much too hot

So, in order to Be In Air Conditioning, we went to the first showing of Wall-e this morning.

OMG WONDERFUL MOVIE. So much love. Even eternaleponine, who had not been 100% sold on the concept, was hooked immediately by the opening show tune. After that, it was all over. LOVE.

After that, it was over to Circuit City to pick up Rock Band, which my parents were financing as a hooray-you-did-not-flunk-out present for emoshukuhai1438. If anyone has NOT bought it and is planning to, Circuit City has it for $99, which is the best price around.

We could not set it up right away, of course, because I needed to clean the living room first. Which I did. I even vacuumed.

Now eternaleponine and emoshukuhai1438 are unpacking it, and figuring out the USB cords and stuff. And we're waiting for the Chinese food to get here, because it's too hot to cook.

I want to name our band "Asparagus on Mars" but I suspect there won't be enough letters.

eternaleponine is being a party pooper and saying she won't play, so I guess it's just me and the kiddo.

Oooo, sounds fun. D got waaaay into Guitar Hero at band camp and came home saying that we needed to get "Carry on My Wayward Son" and we were like, uh, too late.

And he did the whole, oooo, gotta hang up cuz next up is Miss Murder.

We have Guitar Hero. We bought it for Miss Murder! However, i found it frustrating, so C was the one to play it most. Rock Band has a drum kit (which is apparently pretty hard) and VOCALS, which are EASY! And we have to figure out if our Guitar Hero controller works with Rock Band, so if we ever get a 4th person we can have guitar AND bass.

Take it from a drummer - I refuse to play drums for Rockband any more. Nonsensical drum instrumentation makes no sense.

But I'm not a drummer. And it might give me remedial rhythm training -- I am not as rhythm-impaired as a Republican, but I'm not exactly awesome either.

It probably won't give you rhythm training. Trust me. :-(

If the bass drum on the song goes BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM and the cymbal goes TING-TING-TING-TING, you'll HAVE to play BOOM------TING--------BOOM, or some other weird combination that does NOT make sense with what you're hearing.

ALthough maybe it you really need the training, it'll be easier to play what you see than you hear. I dunno. I had a hell of a time because it just DID NOT MAKE SENSE!

Rockband for Xbox is what you need. They have SO many songs for download on that version. See, freakin' Xbox gets all the sexy stuff. They get the extra MCR Guitar Hero songs, and 7586 extra Rockband songs....

Yes, definately. I was thinking about what the next Guitar Hero should be.....but I forgot it. It may or may not have been that. Probably not, because I'm just not that cool ;-)

GH4 World Tour is going to be the Activision answer to Rock Band. From a cursory glance at the web site, it appears that a measurable amount of ass will be kicked.

Yeah! I've seen the ads for that on TV, and one of the things they're hyping is a "more realistic drum set". I'd kind of like to try it, except living alone has it's disadvantages too...

My son is an aspiring drummer. He says the same thing about Rock Band.
