We did it!
Jan. 18th, 2004 11:28 amPresentation, Best in Class, Craftsman Division.
Wahoo!
Also a pile of workmanship awards --
velvetpaws for jewelry construction -- when I get the pictures, I'll post ones of her;
lordavon, for the really amazing job she did glitterpainting the Ring's inscription on her poodle emblem; and Loop took Best in Class Journeyman Workmanship for his AMAZING, INCREDIBLE electronics work with the LiveWire White Tree of Gondor.
And Charlotte behaved herself perfectly, and followed all her cues, and I had blinky stars in my hair, and Mark's cloak was READABLE FROM STAGE with the tengwar that said "varnasse" -- we had a fan who was fluent in Quenya come up and check it out afterwards to be sure he'd caught it right. That was a good moment.
I think my favorite moment, though, was when we were walking in the halls afterwards, and a couple with two little kids -- maybe five and three, I think -- stopped to admire us. The little girl admired the blinky stars especially. I took one out of my hair and gave it to her. Her brother said "I wish I had a blinky star, too," so I gave him another. The looks on their faces as they looked at the blinky stars in their hands, and then at me, were priceless. I like being able to be magic. :)
