Have to take Khaavren to the vet today. Blood in his stool. He's 14. Kind thoughts appreciated.

Brought him to the vet at 1:30 today.

They're going to do an x-ray and bloodwork, check his stool for parasites, and all the other stuff you'd expect, and update his rabies and distemper shots too. They estimated a 2-night stay for him.

They also strongly suggested that I change what I'm feeding him from Purina One Urinary Care to either Science Diet or something like Innova. If that's all it takes to make him a healthy old kitty? I'll be THRILLED.

I am hoping that whatever it is, I caught it early enough that he'll recover. He was still eating with appetite, was still able to jump up on my bed to sleep on it last night, was still grooming himself, and had enough spirit to resist being hauled out from under my bed where he was hiding. I wasn't injured getting him out, except for some rug burn on my face, but he yowled plenty.

I really hope he's going to be all right, my sweet old boy.

His x-rays were still in the machine.

He has a slight fever.

His belly didn't feel hard or rigid.

There were no parasites in his stool.

They'll call later tonight when they've read the X-rays.

PLEASE let him just have done something dumb like eat a push pin?

Colitis. They don't know why exactly. They say they often don't.

They're giving him Flagyl, and trying him on Science Diet I/D, and a stool softener.

No masses. They'll know more when the bloodwork comes back tomorrow, but so far, nothing REALLY scary going on.

Now I get to look forward to the joys of pilling a cat. But NO CANCER.
