I was right.
Sep. 27th, 2004 08:38 pmIf I don't get yelled at, 12 hours feels SHORT.
She stayed out of my HAIR for breakfast and lunch, we had a MEETING after lunch where we planned out the production for the week, and she left me alone to get my stuff DONE in the afternoon! She was still a little stressed about how long I stayed, but I got more accomplished today than I usually do on Mondays, and it was 12 hours and 15 minutes, so *I* know I'll be fine for the target.
And I discovered today that it wasn't JUST the boss being a psycho that turned me into the Flaming BitchKitty of Death last week. No, PMS did its lovely job as well. Stupid ovaries.
Today's menu: Italian Chicken Vegetable soup (the basic chicken veg, plus zucchini slices, oregano, fresh basil and fresh parsley), Split Pea and Ham soup, veggie wraps, turkey and sprouts with artichoke scallion mousse on cran-walnut bread, chicken Caesar salad wraps; edamame salad, white bean and artichoke salad, chickpea salad, tomato and cucumber salad, tuna pasta salad, curried chicken salad, and egg salad. Plus the usual eggplant mozzarella rounds, and a couple of slices of frittata from the one I made Saturday.
The pastry case was hosed. Which is good, it means we sold stuff. So this afternoon, I baked off six pumpkin gingerbread cakes and a tray of lemon bars. We got a special order for a vegetarian quiche, so I made three broccoli, onion, mushroom and cheddar quiches so we'd have a couple for the store. Made a pot of tomato basil soup to replace the split pea for tomorrow. Backed up pie dough and brioche. Made a batch of tapenade so Michaele can make Sicilianos tomorrow... had Carlos slice all the relevant meats. I also candied a bunch of walnuts for the Special Salads, and baked off two trays of chicken breasts and two trays of bacon so they're on hand. Wrote out notes for Robert, and for Michaele. She might have to make a salad tomorrow, because it looked like people were buying the edamame salad, but she can do something stupid simple like coleslaw. The hummus got made fresh today, there's both Caesar and balsamic fig dressing on hand, and more of the artichoke scallion mousse left...
Watch. Even with all that good stuff, I'll come in Wednesday and discover she did BLT wraps or turkey club wraps.
But I didn't get yelled at once, and I have the week planned out so I'm NOT going insane... and not only did SHE love the Freeform Apple Tartlets (the same apple filling we make for pies, basically what's left over after making a dozen pies from one case of apples, in a shell of rugalach dough), the customers did too. There was one left out of the dozen this morning, and I gave it to the delivery driver. So I'll do them again Friday for Saturday.
Day off tomorrow.
YAY!
