Home again
Jul. 31st, 2004 08:17 pmIt looks like Kragar hasn't used up his nine lives yet.
He was wobbly this morning, but he had movement again. He was falling over sometimes when he tried to stand, but he wasn't stretched out and paralyzed. And he took a few mouthfuls of food.
Still, we thought he wasn't going to last long, and we made the appointment. We were all sobbing.
When we put him in the carrier, he started meowing. First noise he'd made since Wednesday. We'd thought he'd lost his voice... maybe not.
When we got to the vet, we let him out, and he WALKED AROUND, looking for a corner to hide in.
We were almost ready to sign the papers when he jumped off the table, and barely wobbled on landing. We had them bring in the vet, not just the tech, and let him see.
The tech brought him a dish of food, and he came right out of his little hidey-hole (big kitty condo thing) to eat it. Afterwards, he CLEANED HIMSELF, which he also hadn't done in some time.
This was not a cat who was ready to go.
He's home. Instead of 2.5 mg of prednisone every other day, he's on 5 mg twice a day. And prescription food, to help him get his strength back.
I don't know how I'll stand it if he has another seziure. But we've got to try.
Hang in there, Kragar!
