Silver Vegan Chicken Balls
Feb. 2nd, 2007 07:58 pmare not silver, nor do they taste remotely like chicken.
They are vegetable-protein meatless balls (they taste the same/ if you close your eyes/ and thirteen orders of fries) with no particular fake-meat taste of their own, and a texture that
eternaleponine pronounced "non-squoogy."
They are in a reddish-brown, very sweet sauce that tastes almost entirely of cinnamon. Not even five-spice powder. Cinnamon.
There were snow pea pods in there with them too. Snow peas are good. But they shouldn't taste like cinnamon.
And, sprinkled liberally on top, there were fried bean thread noodles. Or, as
eternaleponine put it, "tasty styrofoam."
I guess, since those noodles were white, that was the "silver" part?
It was a worthy experiment, but I don't think we'll be ordering them again.
