Your 2005 Song Is

Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day

"My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating"

In 2005, you bummed everyone out. Like you care.

Go on, tell me I'm overplayed. I know.

Sure, you're overplayed, but you're a key early part of a true masterwork.

There is that. I read an interview where Billie Joe said he hoped that someday people could say Green Day was their favorite band and mean it in the same way of all-time-favorite-ever the way people do when they say their favorite band is the Who.

I think they've gotten there. I'm so glad I caught this tour, where they were so clearly at the top of their game, and with THIS album.

After all, one could argue that "Behind Blue Eyes" is overplayed too.

Not only are you overplayed, you really weren't that good to start out with. :P

I respect you far too much to be anything but purely honest. (She said, looking innocent.)

Innocent looks. Don't I remember that you play descendants of Brand, mostly? ;)

Actually, funnily enough, I've been denied every single time I've tried to play a child of Brand.

Can't imagine why.

Highly flawed quiz. I got the same result as you. For *last* year, it'd work.

Meh.

Still.

And, y'know... the fact that it's overplayed doesn't have to mean something negative. It might have been overplayed cos it's a damn good song.

Yeah?

Your opinion is of immense value to me, I assure you.

I got "Since You've Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson. I had to think a bit before I remembered it, and went oh yeah, that song, now I remember. That would make me.. hmm.. okay, over-energised, formulaic, unadventurous, and derivative. And overplayed, too, of course, but then we all are, I think.

The tag line says that I "moved on," but in fact, the opposite is more true. 2005 was, more than most previous years, an experience of homecoming for me, of returning, in many ways, to where I was a few years ago. Not as the same person, of course -- I'd sure as hell hope I'm not the same person I was even two or three weeks ago, never mind four or five years ago -- but still, in so many ways, returning all the same.

I was amused by the question about music preference, because it didn't list anything I'd probably jump at clicking on (but was certainly fair within the confines of the test). It sort of reminded me of that line from The Blues Brothers, when they asked what kind of music was played in a honky-tonk saloon. "Oh, we have both kinds, Country and Western!"

Still, all in all it's an interesting quiz. I'd like to see some other versions of it, like, "Which forgotten Eighties New Wave act are you?" and so on.

Yeah, now THAT'S a quiz I could get into!

I took the quiz. But I'd never heard of the song. ("Beverly Hills" by Weezer) I figured my staunchly 60's/70's/80's music tastes were going to make this a fairly meaningless quiz to me. I knew I was in trouble when my answer to have the questions was, "Uh...how about none of the above?" :)

So NOT a current music girl.
