Busy, busy week
Oct. 29th, 2005 09:05 pmMonday afternoon, went shopping with
cherrybutterfly, with the goal of getting her a Halloween costume. Didn't take long to decide that all the ones at iParty were crap, and convince her to hit the thrift store, where costume was not achieved, but I got a $5 pair of jeans and she scored some boots. Then onto a few other random clothing stores, where a velvet skirt she wanted ANYWAY suggested insta-gypsy to me.
Tuesday... Tuesday the power went out at work and I was stuck there for five hours doing NOTHING while we waited for it to come back on, and then a couple more hours trying to catch up on the work until I had to leave to be home for
melovechocolate getting home from school. I cut it very close -- I was turning into our street as the bus was dropping her off at the corner.
Tuesday night was going with
number42 and
cherrybutterfly to see the Cruxshadows with Ego Likeness at Haven. I will try to write a real review of it soon. For now, suffice it to say that although I'd heard some Cruxshadows before, especially on
jetshade's mixes, I had not fully appreciated their excellence until I saw them live. And,
jetshade? ROGUE DANCED WITH ME. TWICE. Once during "Eurydice!" Holy hell, does that man know how to work a crowd. I think this may be the best club show I'll have seen all year. I was absolutely blown away.
I finally put the Sugarplum Fairy Came And Hit The Streets costume concept that I'd had for ages into action. It was a fun concept... but if I EVER say I'm thinking of wearing pink to a goth night again, JUST SHOOT ME, okay? Because I had to take off the leather jacket to dance, and it was just too damn pink.
Wednesday night we had thought about going to Mirrormask but I was too tired, and also, money.
Thursday was the Body Shop at Home party at
witchchild's. I love her forever because when I asked her to burn me copies of whatever Cruxshadows she had just until I could afford to buy every damn thing they've ever done (I haven't reacted like that to a live show since Fairport Convention in 1987), she said "no working CD burner, here, you can borrow them, no, you know, I don't listen to them much any more, they're yours." WOO! I also got to meet
chowyunsmut, and am so bummed that she's moving to L.A. so soon.
Last night was Libby's Halloween party -- and I can't make a cool lj user link out of her name because she is LAME and only uses Myspace. It was a good party, though. I wore the Trapeze Girl costume that was stupid at the "carnival" themed goth night but was just great at her party, and
shadowflyer did a pirate, which gained a zillion style points from
melovechocolate's toy monkey on his shoulder, and
melovechocolate was dressed as the drummer from Alkaline Trio -- her own idea! and very proud of herself. We stayed over because by the time the party was breaking up we might have driven home safely (not drunk, just sleepy) but we were both too tired to get the kiddo (who was sacked out in a sleeping bag upstairs with Libby's kids) out to the car. I was awake first (I'm weird like that) and I got up and cleaned up the cups and did the dishes and went out on a bagel and doughnut run. And coffee. Yum, coffee.
Tomorrow I need to get pumpkins. And cat food and cat litter and normal laundry detergent.
And then it's next week.
