Social events of note
Jun. 13th, 2005 05:26 pmTomorrow night, Haven. This time I'm really going, as I will not have walked all the way to and from the movie theater in my 20-eye Docs, and therefore will not have evil blisters, and I want to get out and dance. Anyone else want to come with?
shadowflyer will be taking a Kaplan training course and likely won't be going... although if I get a ride with someone else, he might follow along after his course ends. But I am probably going to a Syllabubs rehearsal first, and leaving straight from there, so carpooling might not work.
Wednesday I woudl have considered the City Steam session, but
shadowflyer has an Exiles rehearsal, so, no.
Friday, Calley McGrane and the Exiles are playing at the Fairfield Irish Festival. Opposite Cherish the Ladies, mind you. I am going to look over the shoulder of the guy at the sound board and try to pick up some pointers, or if they don't provide a sound person, I'll do what I can. Mind you, the sound engineer whose skill I want to download is Flogging Molly's... they managed to be paint-blisteringly loud while making it possible to tell the mandolin from the guitar, which is QUITE an accomplishment. The Exiles are not that loud a band... but it'd still be nice to have that sort of skill. Anyway, if you want to come hear the Exiles, or hear Cherish the Ladies and say hi to us after or something (really, I wouldn't blame you, although if you did that, it'd be really nice if you bought a CD), that's where we'll be.
Saturday: Shag Frenzy at the Webster Underground. I have only just discovered that the DJ for this event has a Livejournal, and check out this exchange! So, clearly, the music is going to be even better than usual, and you should show up.
heck, I'm looking at you...
On Monday, we as a family are going to use our Six Flags pass that
melovechocolate got as a fundraising prize, and we;re planning on making an evening visit. So we'll probably get there around 4 or 5 PM, and stay until 9 or so. Anyone want to meet us there?
jetshade, what about you and the boy?
6/23, Serenity screening, w00t!
And, in advance planning, Reel Big Fish is going to be at the Webster on 7/1. I really really really want to go. I know
cherrybutterfly is willing if you are,
number42... anyone else? I warn you ahead of time that I may be an utter wuss and hang back at the bar instead of risking the floor crush.
So, let me know!

Date: 2005-06-14 11:47 am (UTC)Live Irish trad may be closer than you think. Cheaper as well.
Date: 2005-06-20 06:39 pm (UTC)It's not impossible (depending where you are) that there's a pub with a session near you, where you can listen all evening for the price of a pint or two.

Date: 2005-06-20 06:24 pm (UTC)How'd it go?
I was supposed to be playing with the Shamrogues (I know, suckage. But they're still my friends, and a couple of them are pretty decent, even if the totality sucks Chihuahua-sized dead sewer rats through a narrow curly straw.) earlier that evening, but got stuck in traffic coming back from Guilford and didn't make it.
Up against CTL, not an easy place to be in. I was figuring on doing a lot of running back and forth between the Cultural Tent and the Main. :-)
