I admit I'm only doing this because Poppy Z. Brite wrote the quiz.

You are Commander's Palace, a grand old dame of the
Garden District. Traditional yet always
vibrant, you are never afraid of innovation but
you seldom carry it too far. Some locals claim
you have become a tourist trap, but your loyal
patrons know there is no restaurant in town
that treats its regulars with more finesse.

What Famous New Orleans Restaurant Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

I sort of knew I was going to get this, because I knew where the dish I chose as "most appealing" came from... one of these days, I'll be able to make a visit and try it for REAL. Guh.

I am also Commander's Palace. I wish I knew what some of the other possibilities were.

Cool. I've never been, but my folks say it's good.

I'll have to try the quiz, although I fear I'll be crushed if I don't get Galatoire's :-)

I'm commanders palace as well. I want to visit New Orleans SO bad. About a year and a half ago I was considering just packing my stuff and going, basicly on a whim. My family keeps telling me how everybody is drunk all the time and how the crowds are dangerous and they don't seem to realize that Mardi Gras isn't year round.

Yup yup yup. I got Commander's Palace too.

I have a sinking feeling that's the Yankee tourist answer.

I sense a need for a ROAD TRIP.

That would be pretty cool. We could all meet up from around the country. The real problem is that you don't want to be in New Orleans when it's this hot. And "this hot" will last through October. ;)

Maybe when I have some more cash. LOL. And I would rather fly, because driving takes to long and I would miss my cats. Why does that make me sound like a senile old lady?

Heh. [livejournal.com profile] shadowflyer and I once made it from Hartford to Orlando in 19 hours. Admittedly, we did not get to see much along the way... but with driving in shifts, it's possible to cover a lot of ground in less time than you'd think.

Of course, good music is also key.

But road trips are fun!

Maybe not. From reading PZB's restaurant rants, I can guess most of the other restaurants (one was Galatoire's, the one that corresponded to "brains" was Marisol, and the one for "alligator cheesecake" was Jacques-Imo's -- couldn't tell you about the Vietnamese place, and probably one was just a sandwich place, maybe Central Market for muffuletas) and she likes Commander's Palace and eats there with some regularity. Marisol is the edgy foodie one (some things I'm dying to try, some things that frighten me a little), which is definitely not touristy; she thinks Galatoire's is too stodgy compared to Commander's Palace if you want the traditional stuff; and she despises Jacques-Imo's, and considers it a wretched tourist trap.

So I think we can safely say we got the "intelligent tourist" answer, at least.

I'm guessing Galatoire's, Marisol, Jacques-Imo's, whatever PZB's favorite Vietnamese restaurant is, and a sandwich type place.
