Next week:
Friday, 12-10 (yes, that's right, working a double)
Saturday, 4-close (which is 11:30, meaning out probably at 1 AM)
Sunday, going to the Great Bamboozle, IF I can get tickets -- they're sold out, but I've got a bid in on eBay, and watches in on all the Sunday tickets they have... I'll get 'em.
This week in review:
Last Saturday, made it out to Shag Frenzy, with
shadowflyer,
grey_and_purple,
heck,
heck's guy, and a friend of theirs. It was rather underpopulated. The main venue had a Collective Soul concert. However, after we'd made some requests, and the DJ had also noted what pulled us out onto the floor, the music got pretty decent. Until they played Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Relax," which I heard far too many times the first time around, so we took that as our call to hit the AAA Diner, and milkshakes were had, and it was a fun night.
Sunday, baked lemon squares for the benefit concert for Eddie Burke's family, and brought them over to the Irish-American Home in Glastonbury in good time, and hung out with
garsha -- the carousel in Bushnell Park was not running yet, but the kids played on the playscape, and then we went back to her house and I raided her too-small and too-femmey clothes before she listed them on eBay, and got some real goodies. I am very predictable -- everything I took was either black or olive green. Made a nice dinner -- chicken thighs in barbecue sauce, biscuits, and Shauna's feta collards, and a salad with dandelion greens that
melovechocolate had picked that morning. Convinced her to EAT said salad with goat cheese crumbles and balsamic dressing, yay.
Monday: did not haul myself out of bed fast enough to get over to work and get my paycheck before service started, so had to wait until the lull at 2 PM. Spent the interim going shopping with
shadowflyer for clothes for him -- I was being a big geek and writing down items-locations-prices to prioritize a list for when we DID get the paycheck. That night, Flogging Molly at the Webster, which was musically wonderful, and the opening bands, Duckpuppy and Catch-22, weren't half bad either, but that sign on the wall that says "no moshing, no crowd surfing, no stage diving" is a joke, and there were no well-defined boundaries to the moshing, and
shadowflyer was basically body-checking people to keep them from flattening me (and incidentally the cluster of short girls to my right). I was well braced and had my elbows out and wound up kicking the ankles of one particularly annoying one who could have flattened several girls at once, but my upper arms were good and sore the next day. Still, our old gaming buddy Nick was there (see
shadowflyer's post for details, if you like), which was a nice surprise, and we decided that Irish Car Bombs were the drink of the night (I only had one), and it was a good time. Got three of the guys from the band to sign the CD, including the VERY cute banjo/mandolin/bouzouki player.
Tuesday: once I dragged myself away from the computer, spent cleaning up because
tikvah and
juseppi were coming for dinner. Cooked salmon with lemon, shallots, and dill, and made a sort of pesto with those ingredients and pine nuts, and broccoli and plain rice on the side, which was all both tasty and
tikvah-safe. I even had some egg whites on hand to make a batch of meringue cookies, and I piped them with a star tip, and we discovered that they are VERY good dipped in Sabra liqueur, which she'd brought us back from Israel.
shadowflyer did a wonderful job tidying the foyer, which is something I HATE doing, and I got things clean enough to VACUUM in the parlor, which is quite something around here. We even prevailed upon
melovechocolate to get HER stuff out of the foyer. It was a nice social time and the place looks a lot better for it, too.
Wednesday: More money came in, so we could go shopping for
shadowflyer's clothes. Two pairs of cargo pants and one pair of military surplus boots, the kind that's part leather and part nylon mesh. And hair dye for me. Herbal Essences Sapphire Black this time, not Feria, and this time
shadowflyer likes how it looks. I don't know if it's the brand, or if it's because I didn't have to kill as much red this time, or because I used half of the tube of conditioner that's supposed to hold six applications, but it IS shinier and he thinks it has more highlights. I also got a call from a place I'd sent a resume to last month -- and although I told them I'd already found a job, I also said I could use more hours, and so we set up an interview. Firefly and pizza over at the SnarkHouse, and
bunnygoth was there but caffeine withdrawal made her too tired to go to Flux with us, and
andrianna wanted to go but had work in the morning and would have wanted to be home by midnight, which made it sort of not worth it, so we went by ourselves. Stopped at
witchchild's on the way to get my Body Shop goodies.
tikvah, I have yours.
lordavon, I've got books for you from
witchchild. Exchanged lj names with
mellancholie, who had a VERY pretty beaded top on, and I must remember to add her to the friendslist.
Today: did absolutely nothing beyond help with laundry, go buy pantyhose for the interview, and go to same, except sit at the computer. Well, okay, I did the catbox. I wore the olive skirt I got from
garsha, a nice black short sleeved knit shell top, and the jazz shoes I got from Freecycle, and a plain wide black belt. I didn't realize quite how short the skirt was, but I managed to sit like a lady, so it was fine, I think. They are looking for someone to do catering production, days. Savory, not pastry, but I could handle that, and it'd be working ALONE in the kitchen most of the time, which would be a treat, and although
andrianna has stories to pass along about how people have found that organization hard to work for, I'd be willing to give it a try. Anyway, it's not a high-pressure situation for me -- if they offer it to me, I'll say yes, but if they don't, I'm no worse off than I was before.
Tomorrow: going in to work. No huge other plans. Probably housecleaning in the morning. Might hang with Shauna if we can think of something to do, but it'd have to be something cheap or free...
That's my life right now. How's yours?
