The rest of the weekend
Oct. 9th, 2004 02:13 pmTonight, Calley McGrane and the Exiles play at The Sounding Board, a long-standing folk coffeehouse series at the Universalist Church of West Hartford, which is at 433 Fern Street, West Hartford, CT. Doors open at 7, show starts at 8, $12.
The show's going to be over by 10:15 or so, so you might want to do what we plan to, and head over to McKinnon's Irish Pub, in downtown Hartford, where Rathkeltair is playing. We'll be able to catch the second set. My knees will hate me again. I don't care.
Tomorrow. when I have a DAY OFF, boo-yah! there's the Highland Games in Scotland, CT. 10 AM to 5 PM. Neil and company are playing sets at 1 and 3. They probably won't do the Violent Femmes or Lou Reed covers there, but they might do the extended patter about the crab-in-a-chamberpot... and they might invite
shadowflyer up on stage. Trevor was asking him to, not just Neil who's known us for a long time.
Really, truly, you want to come out for at least one of these events. Scotland's not even a horrible drive from the Boston area. No worse than hauling out to King Richard's, really. There's a map on the website I linked to up there.
I ought to log off and go put on some garage-cleaning clothes, so I can make room for
pixel's '62 Mercury Comet in the garage.
lordavon and
alcarnor might be down to help me with it, and see
shadowflyer's show after... and,
pixel, if you have the chance,
alcarnor is going to be working in Hartford, commuting from Amherst, and his car is consuming oil and antifreeze, and this is why I'm drafting him for garage cleaning, to build up Comet-garage-rental credit if you're willing to look at his car. I don't think they'll be driving it today though. They'll probably have
lordavon's Saturn.
If I am making no sense, it's because I only had about three hours of sleep last night.
But come out and play!
