The whole day ahead of me

Yesterday at work was very busy, as I'd been told Saturdays would be. I got in at 8 AM. I think next week I'll make it 7, which should help in getting eveything set up by lunchtime.

Today I only had to do breakfast. Routine. Mix the muffins, bake off the scones, second batch of muffins, brioche and sticky buns... while the last were baking, I had enough time to sharpen all the knives, and mess around with the power adapter for the PC speakers I'd brought in to hook up to the portable CD player, and get it working. This means the kitchen can now handle radio, cassette tapes, AND CDs, so I can listen to just about ANYTHING I want to. Yay!

And I was home by 8:30 AM.

So I really ought to do housework today. Lord knows I have enough of it to do. And I've been spending too much time on fandom lately. I am certain of this after last night's dream... it had a starring role for ataniell93's Dylan Mulciber. Not that I don't appreciate such dreams, as Dylan is one of the world's own sweeties, and he was being a shining example and offering truly helpful and caring advice to my Severus-self... but when characters from other people's fanfic start showing up in my dreams, maybe it's time to put the crack pipe down.

Isn't that a great feeling, to suddenly have a whole day in front of you? My semester ended Friday, and tomorrow will be my first official day with no plans at all. (I had a wedding to go to yesterday, theater tickets today.) I'm absolutely giddy thinking about a day where I have no demands on my time. I've decided I MIGHT do the laundry, and I MIGHT clean the house. Or I might just sit on the couch all day and watch the time pass with nothing getting done. Just to remind myself what that feels like.

And I gotta tell ya...every time you post your work stuff, I get hungry. When you come down this way for a Northeast Amazons gathering, I'd love to bake with you. I don't know much yet, and I'd love to learn from a master. I do pretty good scones. But the idea of baking brioche or sticky buns...Wow. :)

Brioche is not difficult with a good stand mixer, but it needs lead time. It's easiest to handle after a chilled overnight rise.

So I'd need to plan a full weekend off well in advance.

Yeah, see, I think the fact that I don't own a good stand mixer is one of the reasons I'm not very seriously into baking yet. I think the other reason is that I tend to spend so much time making appetizers and dinners when I throw dinner parties that dessert tends to be an afterthought most times. I haven't put my concentration there yet.
