On the self-test (which I did with real, old-school push-ups, not any of the easier varieties), I managed to do 6 push-ups, which put me at level 2.

For the program, I am doing knee push-ups (with my ankles crossed like it shows on the site), and with my hands in fists instead of flat, because I already know I have issues with my wrists.

Today's assignment was 6, 6, 4, 4, and the last set to failure, but at least 5. I pooped out on 12. That makes 32 push-ups! Go me!

(Menstrual cramps derailed the challenge for me last time. I am hoping I can avoid that trap on this attempt.)

^_^ Go you!

I managed all of 2 old-school push ups. Bah. I'm weak and fat. Congrats on doing 32!

32 knee push-ups. 6 old-school. I am not going to make myself work so hard I give up!

Are you working on the challenge? Post your progress!

Really can't blame you, all of mine were knee style.

Meh, I will tonight. :p I have to run off to the military base.

Did you create an account at push ups logger?

No, too much trouble, I don't need another community to log into. I'll just track them here.

Wow. Likely better than I could do. Even before my foot injury.

Go you!

I can't even do the knee push-ups. (I mean, I can, but my form is all out of whack--if you can't keep yourself from sagging all to hell while doing it, it's not even worth it.) I do a version I found on stumptuous.com, where you find a counter or a table or something and put yourself at an angle to it and do push-ups on that. It's not your full body weight, so it's easier, and you work down to lower and lower things to get closer and closer to horizontal over time. I had to start with the wall (standing at arm's length from it and leaning in so as not to be starting from vertical).

If I keep doing a couple sets two or three times a week, I will get to the standard ones someday. :D

I am stronger than my skinny arms would suggest -- even though I was doing basically nothing for six months, for the past six years I've been working at jobs where moving fifty pound flour sacks has been part of the workday.

But yes, even the challenge website suggests wall push-ups as a starting place for people who can't do other sorts.

I say I am doing this to improve my general health and fitness, but I also want to drop 15 pounds, and if my arms look nice and toned when it gets to short sleeve weather, that's a bonus.

I think if I ask Chef specifically to make me fish and greens for dinner, instead of pasta, it'll help too.

Heh, I like it better. I don't like putting out when I exercise too much. Anyways, I'm on the first day also, but only got 19 done. Bleck.

Yeah, I remember when I had a physical job. I worked for six months on third shift stocking shelves in the kitchen and home decor section of a big box store and I gained 5 pounds and dropped a pants size. I was carrying around 70-pound boxes of things (which was against the rules, we were supposed to have someone help us with anything over 50, but I felt so tough I couldn't help myself).
