In other news, Alkaline Trio has finally cracked ClearChannel - 104.1 played "Help Me" today while we were on the way there. And has them featured as an "Artist On The Rise" on their website. Ah, the tyrrany of the major labels and their hold on radio -- but I'm glad a band I love is getting the benefits.

NEXT weekend had better go more smoothly.

Alkaline Trio and the like are one of the many reasons I moved to satellite radio. (That, and $12/mo. for no damn commercials is a definite win.)

For longer trips, there's my iPod. Six thousand songs on shuffle will give lots of variety.

But for local trips, it's the radio.

My iPod isn't nearly that full...although it's more so than I thought. Also, since I have of late a high activation energy for music purchases (* you too, RIAA), I use the radio to spot new stuff to look into.

And you'll be happy to know that on 89X over here, Help Me won the People's Choice awards for at least a few nights in a row... not that it's gotten much play that I've heard since then, but what I hear means nothing :-)

Spotting new stuff, for me, tends to involve opening bands, freebie label samplers, and compilation discs that have tracks by bands I already like. That, and a roommate with some connections.

No, she didn't want to do a picture this time. Adam kind of *clonked* his head into my side to get into the frame, but, you know, he was being Adam. I asked if his tattoo was done yet because it had more stuff than the last time I'd seen it, and he said no, he was supposed to see his guy in June but he'd been so booked up that it hadn't happened.

And yay for winning People's Choice! If I'd known, I would have wanted to call, just like B called night after night for Black Parade.

I think I mentioned that the alt station in Denver couldn't stop playing Help Me, but not sure if they are ClearChannel. I could look, but I'm lazy. ;-)

I haven't seen Adam's tattoo up close. Or really, had the time to inspect it. The best SDC tattoo story I have is when they signed after Warped last year, Adam was taking his purple signing sharpie and drawing on Bobby's arm tattoo, adding dots in the empty spaces :-)
