It felt so good to have the electronics cleanout accomplished, I didn't stop there.

I did sit down at the computer when we got back, because that's what I DO when I come in the house.

But I checked on [livejournal.com profile] searingpaine's laundry in the dryer, too. Done. So I was able to start a load of MY laundry (I hate starting it unless the dryer is clear, since the dryer takes so much longer than the washer).

And we went out to Borders, so [livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine could get a copy of Everybody Hurts: An Essential Guide to Emo Culture. Which she is sitting here reading and snickering over as I type.

[livejournal.com profile] searingpaine wasn't up yet. Which wasn't totally unreasonable, as he'd worked the night before, and God only knows when he'd gotten in, as he had to walk home from the Webster after his security shift was over. But I left a note on the door to the third floor stairs:

Good morning sunshine. :-) (And yes, I DID write the smileyface just like that.)

1) Your laundry's dry.

2) Remember what you said about chores? Since it's not raining - feel free to grab a garden rake (on the front porch) & have at it.

We are at Borders & will be back soon.

And, wonder of wonders, when we got back -- with me terribly pleased with myself, because I found a PERFECT CD for a birthday present for my three-year-old niece, a collection of original alphabet songs by They Might Be Giants -- there were piles of raked leaves!

I showed [livejournal.com profile] searingpaine where the lawn and leaf bags were, and went inside to shift laundry to the dryer and clean up the kitchen, while [livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine worked on clearing leaves and junk off the front porch. [livejournal.com profile] melovechocolate took care of the cat box, and then went next door to play. When I was done with the dishes and fifteen minutes on the counters ([livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine helped on that), I went outside and took a pair of pruning shears to the Driveway Attack Shrubbery, and got it to where maybe we can open car doors without getting poked in the eye!

Then it was back inside to fool around on the net more. And rip CDs I'd borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] shadowflyer's because I had had them on Ludo, but not on the Toaster. And work up a grocery list with [livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine and [livejournal.com profile] melovechocolate. Now, our grocery lists are a mixture of very specific items like "hoisin sauce" and really general things like "lunch stuff" and "FOOD," but part of it was that we planned out dinner through Wednesday night, so we had some idea of what we wanted to get.

It became clear that this had to be a Wild Oats run. We mostly kept the impulse purchases under control. Okay, Mojo bars were on sale, but that's within our normal shopping plan, even. And we remembered to bring our own bags!

More fooling around on the net while I ate a Mojo bar, and then I went downstairs to start on dinner -- fried rice with vegetarian bacon. Because I'd made a large pot of rice earlier in the week and it had barely been touched, and it seemed like a shame to waste it. Peas, eggs, and scallions, with ginger and garlic and soy. Easy.

And now I'm back from taking [livejournal.com profile] searingpaine to work, and a second load of laundry is in the dryer, and I am feeling very pleased with the day.

How was YOUR Saturday?

Talk to me about weekends May 19th and thereafter -- kinda booked until then, but it sounds like fun!

Tomorrow I am taking [livejournal.com profile] melovechocolate to get a cartilage piercing done in her ear as a reward for winning a national Latin award. Probably wind up being cheaper than a carnival.

Hope you have an awesome time!
