But the sun was shining, and it's April, and I couldn't resist.

So I went for the first ride of the year with the top down on Candy-O.

I stuck to surface roads -- I wasn't really ready for highway speeds in this weather, especially with my hair wet from a shower.

But it's possible to get to the Webster Theater on surface roads, so I picked up the concert ticket for [livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine, and from there it was a straight shot on New Britain Ave. to the Bed Bath & Beyond out by Westfarms, so I could do it easily.

With Green Day blasting, courtesy of PopTart (my iPod) and a cassette adapter.

I figure if I have to endure heavy rap bass from cars with their windows SHUT, people can deal with a passing Green Day zone. And it just seems like convertible music to me.

I will admit that I had to blast the heat to be comfortable.

But it was worth it.

There is no such thing as too cold if the sun is shining and you have the capacity to put the top down and crank tunes.

What kind of ride is Candy-O? (asks the owner of the 99 silver Miata, Spike)

1996 candy-apple red Chevy Cavalier with a white top and white interior.

Can't afford a Miata, sadly. Not even a used one. But when I totaled Iggy, my Volvo 240 wagon, the red convertible came up top of the local listings when I specified my price range!

So I went for it. And have driven it in snowstorms (top up, of course, but still) and have not regretted it.

i absolutely hear you. there's nothing like the top down and your hair in the breeze, no matter the weather.

i am SO happy for you!
