The incongruity was exactly the point! You wouldn't have gotten me bowling otherwise -- it had probably been 25 years since I'd been bowling, after a regrettable incident in which I came in dead last at my own birthday party.
But if there were DJs and an excuse to goth myself up... what the hell, right?
