Two days off in a row = TO DO LIST!
Jun. 6th, 2005 02:27 pmI am still getting the hang of this graveyard shift thing. I came home from work Sunday morning around 11 AM, plenty beat, and got six solid hours of sleep, thanks to the light-blocking curtains and the earplugs that
shadowflyer and Christy picked up for me. Those earplugs really make a difference, especially since, in typical New England fashion, it has become summer OVERNIGHT, and I've got the bedroom window open and the fan on, and I can hear all the street noise that way. Also, the phone will wake me up even if the ringer is only on minimum volume two rooms away and off in the bedroom. With the earplugs in, I didn't wake up when
shadowflyer came in to put boots on!
Anyway, six solid hours of sleep notwithstanding, I was still tired, so after dinner I went to bed again. Set the alarm for 12:30 AM, and then somehow managed not to turn the alarm ON, so it was a good thing I woke up of my own accord at 1:15 AM, enough time to get dressed and have
shadowflyer drive me to work, so he could have the one remaining working car in the household to drive Christy to work at 6:30 AM. Because, here's the annoying part, not only is Christy's Cavalier still in Boston having a replacement engine put in, but my Volvo stalled out three times on the way to work on Friday morning, and the "check engine" light's been on for a while, so on Friday after work I dropped it right at Claude's so he could figure out what the hell was wrong with it. I hope it's not going to be hideously expensive.
The idea ws that I would call
shadowflyer to come pick me up when I was done with work, but I got Sal to give me a ride home instead. Sal's a really nice guy. I was moderately surprised to learn that he was originally from Worcester, not from Hartford, although really I ought to have picked it up from his voice... what can I say? I grew up outside of Boston, and even though I haven't got the accent myself, it's not odd enough for my ear to register it much.
Anyway, when I got home, I wasn't sleepy at all. So, naturally, I made a to-do list.

atalantapendrag and
eternaleponine)
Mow front lawn - this is another
shadowflyer task, as I am phobic about power mowers, but his feet and ankles are still sore, so it might not get done before the thunderstorms predicted for this afternoon Done before it rained, 6/6

Put away dark laundry - I also tidied the pile o' clothes on the little red couch at the foot of the bed while I was at it
Ironing - the four items had been sitting there for probably a week, so I'm very proud of myself

Blog (I suppose I could strike this, but there are a whole LOT of posts I want to write)

Deal with more
melovechocolate laundry -- which may just mean nagging her, it's clean, she needs to sort and put away
Find 4 deedle-balls, 4 cloth napkins
That was just the stuff I wrote down in my notebook. Now that I'm sitting here I can also add:
Take old phone books to recycling drop-off
Take outgrown clothes to Salvation Army
Take out kitchen trash and compost I did this while I was fixing lunch
Pick up fishnet shirt
mhaille is loaning me from
pixel 2:45 PM, 6/6
And while I was at it, I asked
pixel if he'd look at the Spin-X laundry thingy (basically a centrifuge) that hasn't worked for several years. He said he'd poke at it. Yay.
rent Dogtown and Z-Boys because I promised
eternaleponine 3:00 PM, 6/6
Declutter purse 4:05 PM 6/6
Declutter car 4:30 PM 6/6

And I'm sure I'll figure out more things to do, as well. Watch for the strikeouts with time and date after, because I really mean to get these done.

Date: 2005-06-06 10:12 pm (UTC)I can re-set myself pretty readily, because I have a sunrise/sundown clock, which fools my body very nicely, as long as I'm feeling at least a little sleepy.
I can also MANAGE long stretches awake if I get the right sort of catch-up the next day.
It's working out all right. It's draining some IQ points, but honestly I wasn't using all of them anyway.

Date: 2005-06-06 10:37 pm (UTC)Guess what time I fell asleep? Yup. 2 am.
I never thought I'd say it, but I'm actually looking forward to when I have to be up and somewhere by 8 am four days a week, and I think 9 am one day... I'll actually have a REGULAR schedule.

Date: 2005-06-07 02:04 am (UTC)I would certainly prefer it if said regular schedule involved not having to be anywhere 'til 10 am, though!
