You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
Swordspoint, by Ellen Kushner. From the lyrical opening through the intrigue and mayhem to the deeply romantic ending... none better.
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Tons of them! Notable adolescent ones were Hanse, known as Shadowspawn, from the Thieves' World anthologies, and Fritz Leiber's immortal Grey Mouser. Both of them strike me as jerks now, the Mouser very much more so.
The last book you bought is:
Um, a 25-cent used copy of The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, by Nicholas Meyer, because it was on the used books table atthe grocery store and I don't know what happened to my previous copy.
The last book you read:
Prime, by Poppy Z. Brite. I posted a review of it on Amazon and she thanked me very nicely for it.
What are you currently reading?
I've got a re-read of Sharra's Exile going, but Lew Alton annoys me. I had Stardance out for read-self-to-sleep purposes. If I can find the copy of Karin Lowachee's Burndive that
eternaleponine sent me, I'll start it.
Five books you would take to a deserted island.
The Riverside Shakespeare (yes, I cheat)
Much Depends on Dinner, by Margaret Visser
The Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
and either The Annotated Sherlock Holmes or The Annotated Alice, with a bias towards the Conan Doyle. ( I told you I cheated.)
And I would be very, very sad if I did not also get to bring a big thick blank notebook and something to write with.
Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?
I'm with Karin:
Whoever on my flist hasn't 1) already answered it and 2) completely written off this kind of game.
