(no subject)

Dear EVERYONE:

Quit using "I Melt With You" for food commercials. I hated it when Burger King did it ten years ago, I still hate it when Taco Bell and Hershey's do it now.

It doesn't help to use a cover instead of the Modern English original, either.

No love,

Me.

In other news, going up to Boston again tomorrow to take a read-to-[livejournal.com profile] talandra shift. I appear to have gotten rid of The Forbidden Tower in the move, but I've got some other Darkovers to hand, and also Brust. I may leave some of the Darkover short story books there if [livejournal.com profile] jetshade wants me to, for the general collection.

Just for the record, if I'm ever barely conscious in the ICU? Read me Swordspoint. Also the Hitchhikers' trilogy, if it takes that long. But Swordspoint first.

The people responsible for the JCPenney back-to-school commercial using a bad "Don't You Forget About Me" cover and ripped-off scenes from The Breakfast Club should ALSO be sacked. Or first against the wall when the revolution comes. Or whatever. Anyway, they can bite me. PIXY STIX. Bah.

Off to do more dishes.

Agreed about "I Melt With You" et al. Though yesterday, during the Olympic diving, when they were talking about the two young Americans who compete against each other individually but who compete as synchronized diving partners, they played a little bit of Adam Ant's "Friend or Foe," which tickled me. I immediately thought of you and [livejournal.com profile] weegoddess. ;-)

I lost all respect for the folks doing the JC Penney add campaigns when they did the whole "Where's your mother?" ad campaign. Dads are incompetent with their children, and will let them sit and cry until their mothers come home. Moms are so into shopping that they'll put that ahead of their children.

What. Ever.

Seriously, one of the most sexist ad campaigns ever, much less in the 21st century. Bleh.

Firing squad wouldn't be good enough for The Breakfast Club ripoff agency. They clearly think they are appealing to the parents of the kids who need back to school clothes. Uh, marketing? Ur doin it wrong.

Good luck tomorrow. I. Just. Can't. Imagine.

What really annoyed me: JC Penney trying to evoke The Breakfast Club in THEIR commercials. (visuals AND music)

The TV commercial that has me having fits is the Target commercial with the Jonas brothers doing the cover of Hello Goodbye. Ouch...
