The noises of spring

Yesterday, I was driving around with the top down, music turned up -- Marilyn Manson's "This Is The New Shit," because [livejournal.com profile] melovechocolate had not head it and didn't recognize it when [livejournal.com profile] eternaleponine and I were quoting the chorus at each other while cleaning the study on Sunday. Good convertible music. Remind me to post about convertible music generally.

Anyway, there I was, about to turn onto Farmington Avenue by the reservoir, when I heard a loud "vroom."

"Bet that guy on the Harley won't be wearing a helmet," I thought, and turned my head to look.

No Harley.

Awwww, BOOGERSNOTS.

It was my muffler.

The three mile commute all winter did exactly what you'd expect to the exhaust system: allowed condensation to build up and turn into rust.

Claude can see it on Friday.

I guess I have another reason to be happy I'm taking the bus!

I never had the accent of my birthplace

What American accent do you have?

Northeastern.
You're probably from somewhere near New York City, possibly north Jersey, or Connecticut or Rhode Island. If you are from New York City you may be one of the types who people never believe when you say you're from New York.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?
